The ruined church was an old structure in Fell's Church, Virginia, located on top of a hill in the old cemetery. After Honoria Fell's death, the townspeople built a crypt underneath it as her and her husband's resting place.
The church was destroyed during the Battle of Fell's Church during the American Civil War. Unlike some structures in the town, the church was left in ruins.
